Why is this an important story to tell?

Because in 2025, most of us live in our own little bubbles – scrolling through feeds that just keep telling us we’re right. World’s Greatest Lover throws five wildly different characters together and dares them to break out of their comfort zones. In the end, they don’t just save love – they remind us why it’s worth fighting for.

What would you like audiences to take away from seeing this production at the Fringe?

We want people to leave humming the songs, laughing about the jokes, and maybe even feeling a little more hopeful about love. It’s a high-energy show with a killer cast, a live band, and a lot of heart – all wrapped up in one joyful, chaotic, musical roller coaster.

Do you tend to take inspiration from events happening in the world around you in terms of your work? Do you think artists have a responsibility to respond to what’s happening?

Definitely. Our job is to entertain, first and foremost, but we also believe theatre can shine a light on what’s happening around us. World’s Greatest Lover is a fun ride, but under the surface, it’s about listening better, connecting more, and learning from each other.

How do you feel about the current arts landscape in your country and your part in it?

The appetite for theatre is still there, maybe more than ever, but getting shows up and running is tougher than ever. Costs are sky-high, and the margin for error is razor thin. But we keep going, because the payoff – a room full of people connecting through a live performance – is still magic.

Does it excite you and inspire you to keep pushing the boat out?

Absolutely. That moment when the audience laughs, gasps, tears up, or jumps to their feet – that’s why we do this. It’s what keeps us pushing forward, taking risks, and telling stories that matter.

How can Edinburgh audiences keep up with you beyond the festival?

Follow us on socials @wglmusical! We’ve got big plans. This show is just getting started. Keep an eye out for what’s next, whether it’s in the West End, on Broadway, or somewhere near you.
