Even before Edinburgh was connecting musicians and theatre-makers with their audiences at the International Festival and Edinburgh Festival Fringe, its world-class galleries, museums and royal botanical gardens made it a must-visit global city. Nowadays, it takes an app like Bloomberg Connects to come away from Edinburgh, home to the largest arts festival in the world, certain that you made the most of it.

The Bloomberg Connects app is home to bespoke digital guides for over 1000 cultural organisations worldwide. It makes it easy to access and engage with arts and culture anywhere, anytime. Designed with locals and tourists in mind, it includes video, audio and text guides, as well as expert commentary and way-finding maps. Whether you’re viewing them onsite or planning ahead, Bloomberg Connects shows you everything you need in one place without even the need to download the app. Free-to-use and optimised for mobile, the intuitive interface works just as well in-browser. No sign-in required.

As of now, 14 Edinburgh institutions have live guides highlighting their attractions, exhibitions and events which are produced by the institutions themselves, so you know the information you’re getting is accurate and up to date. This year, new additions to that list include The Harryhausen Foundation, which was set up to preserve and promote the life’s work of 20th Century special effects pioneer Ray Harryhausen.

Also featured are must-sees Jupiter Artland on the outskirts of the city, and Stills: Centre for Photography in the city centre. Edinburgh’s award-winning sculpture garden, Jupiter Artland, has 120 acres of indoor and outdoor galleries which showcase original work by artists including Anthony Gormley. Gormley’s 2008 steel sculpture, Firmament, is one of the site’s most striking and iconic artworks. Since 1977, Stills: Centre for Photography has championed photographic excellence through workshops and major exhibitions. Today, it boasts Scotland’s only analogue photobooth.

Bloomberg Connects is your passport to arts and culture. Available in over 45 languages, the accessibility-focused app places no limits on how many digital guides you can explore. Through its digestible bite-sized content and deep dives, it breaks down barriers to arts and culture for all. This summer, selecting from Edinburgh’s overwhelming list of exceptional offerings has never been easier. Wherever you choose, enhance your visit with reliable expert insights all on one user-friendly platform.
