Jess Robinson’s Your Song is a joyous homage to the music of Elton John, performed by a one-woman host of female stars. Robinson creates a musical smorgasbord, performing ‘Tiny Dancer’ as Amy Winehouse, ‘Rocket Man’ as Billie Holiday, and ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ as Kate Bush.
The show opens with a belting rendition of ‘‘Wednesday’ Night’s Alright (For Fighting)’ – day inserted as required, a happy accident if you go on the first day of the weekend – which forces the audience into the foot-tapping reality that this is not an amateur at work.
Your Song marries flawless impressions with some of the hardest and most iconic musical voices, showcasing Robinson’s astounding talent, switching from Billie Eilish to Katherine Jenkins in moments.
The culmination of the comedy comes with the song ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’ in which two members of the front row are selected to each choose ten famous faces whose impersonations would perform the song. With comedic flair and impressive clarity Jess Robinson whiplashes between the Queen, Rachel Reeves, and Nigella Lawson(to name a few), singing Elton’s iconic ballad.
Your Song is a natural must-see for any fans of Elton John, or indeed anyone who has ever wondered what ‘I’m Still Standing’ would sound like if it was sung by Barbra Streisand.
