Ever wished you could control your life a little more? Well drag artist Curly does just that, as she plays the game of life. Battling through levels to find success in community, love, and work, she takes the audience with her on a chaotic adventure of musical discovery.
C U Later, Simulator, much like life, is defined by its unpredictability. Every level features a corresponding comedy song, which range from surprisingly touching – recollections on falling in love – to outrageous. One song in particular finds its singer face to face with an inflatable dildo inside a nightclub at 4.30pm in the afternoon.
Supporting the chaotic songs is the musical talent of their performer, whose performance lifts them into always entertaining territory. It is easy to see an incompatibility between a musical drag comedy and an afternoon slot, but Curly has the audience laughing and singing along within moments, showcasing her talent.
This show knows its target demographic: 20-somethings muddling through life. It is a reassuring reminder of the fun to be had along the way.
C U Later, Simulator, Just the Tonic Legends, until 24 Aug, 4.30pm
